From submission to sale

How consignment works

  1. Share your saddle

Send your contact details, what you know about your saddle and the photographs you have.

  2. Agree and confirm

Agree an asking price and a private minimum price with Jeff. Sign the consignment agreement and pay the $175 non-refundable listing fee.

  3. Send it to us

Follow our shipping instructions and send your saddle to The Saddle Vault at your expense.

  4. We handle the sale

We inspect and record its condition. Saddles accepted after in-hand inspection are photographed, listed and stored. Once sold, we arrange shipping to the buyer and your payout under the terms above.

Submission does not guarantee acceptance, a listing or a sale. In-hand inspection is required before listing.

A few useful details

Commission and payout details

You receive 75% of the actual saddle sale price, excluding tax, shipping and the buyer’s trial-upgrade fee. Payout is within three business days after the buyer’s applicable trial window ends, once the transaction is cleared with no open return or dispute.

What does the listing fee cover?

The $175 one-time listing fee is non-refundable and covers appraisal, verification, conditioning and marketing. The separate 25% commission applies when the saddle sells.

Do I need all eight photos?

All eight views are optional. Send the photographs you have, including any wear, repairs or damage. We’ll follow up if we need more. Use natural light and a clear background. You can add several photographs to each view. No measurements are needed at this stage.

When do I ship my saddle?

Wait until the asking price and private minimum are agreed, your consignment agreement is signed and the listing fee is paid. We then provide inbound shipping instructions.
